Gabe Reed was born and raised in Wadsworth, Ohio. Once he graduated High School, he moved to Pittsburgh to attend Point Park University. At age seven, after seeing his dad play on a pink stratocaster in their living room, Gabe began playing guitar. Gabe later picked up saxophone, piano and banjo. Due to his parent’s eclectic taste, Gabe was exposed to many different genres of music. His major influences growing up were John Mayer, Prince, Jay-Z and Alt J. He began writing his own music at thirteen. He started performing his original music live at different coffeehouses in his hometown when he was fourteen. He put his first album together during his senior year of High School. It was entitled Explorations Outside Urbanization. The album was mainly Indie Folk. After moving to the city, his music became drastically different. He delved into genres such as funk, rap and hip-hop. This allowed him to grow immensely as a singer songwriter. He writes lyrics from a point of view that reflects on the world around him, both politically as well as personally.
