Signed Artists

Pioneer Star

Each fall, students select an artist to be the next “Pioneer Star.” The label partners with Red Caiman Media Studios, an advanced commercial recording facility located in downtown Pittsburgh, to produce a professional EP featured at an album release party at Stage AE.

Pioneer Records also partners with the Point Park University Music Video Workshop course to produce a music video single.

Allissa Logsdon, stage name “ALLISSA”, is Pioneer Records current and fifth Pioneer Records Star. Allissa grew up in Munhall, Pennsylvania and is pursuing her college career at Point Park University. The 20-year-old Sports, Arts, and Entertainment Management major is in the process of completing her final semester at Point Park. Allissa began her music endeavors just at the age of six by learning to play the piano solely by ear. As she grew, she expanded her music talents by interlacing vocals to the piano. Allissa is now enlisted as a pianist, vocalist, and lyricist. She has had the opportunity to work with Chad Graham of Christian/Gospel group, Anthem Lights and Josiah Prince of Christian rock/metal group, Disciple. Allissa is currently in the process of recording her EP with Pioneer Records and Red Caiman Studios. The style of music she pursues falls under the genre of pop/rock with “edgy” and “dark” undertones within the lyrics. However, the juxtaposition incorporated in her tracks is ending with elements of hope around the dark lyrics. Once the EP is finalized, Allissa will perform at Stage AE located on the North Shore of Pittsburgh for a release party.

I just want to be able to be taken seriously in Pittsburgh. I want to kind of make a name for myself in this area. I think you have to make a name in your hometown before you go anywhere else, and I feel like Pioneer Records will be able to do that.

Victor Gariseb, stage name “SouthWest DFRNT”, is Pioneer Records’ debut collaboration artist. SouthWest DFRNT is collaborating with ALLISSA, Pioneer Record’s fifth Star. SouthWest DFRNT is a 21-year-old Acting major at Point Park University. A personal story unravels the inspiration behind his stage title. The first of SouthWest DFRNT’s title, “SouthWest”, derives from his roots, which is being raised in Southwest Africa until moving to the United States in 2015. “DFRNT” comes from SouthWest DFRNT embracing his “different” and unique qualities he felt stood prominent when moving to America. SouthWest DFRNT is a versatile artist as his titles range from being an actor, vocalist, and rapper. Vastly inspired by actor and rapper, Donald Glover (Childish Gambino), SouthWest DFRNT recognizes the importance of enhancing all of his abilities rather than being an artist following a singular route. SouthWest DFRNT began his music path when he was about fourteen when his friends and him created a rap group. SouthWest DFRNT pursued his career in the rap group until he moved to Pittsburgh. As Pioneer Records’ collaboration artist, SouthWest DFRNT will record and release a music video with Allissa in April to a track titled, “Here”.

I’ve been exposed to how it’s going to be in the real world if I pursue music because [Pioneer Records] has been professional since the very second I applied. It’s been a learning experience every time.
